Well used they can be a good help to navigation but most webmasters have a tendency to multiply the numbers of frames they have on their homepages.

That problem happens also on professionnal web pages.

As a compromise I created a framed and an unframed web site that is not my presonnal home page.

Besides the obvious "FRAMES SUCK!! AaaaaRRggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!", I really don't mind frames much, provided they have been implemented CORRECTLY!!!!



Its when those Idiots decide that they absolutely, positively must have frames right now, and put them everywhere on their pages, that I have a problem. Especially if they don't bother to target the right damn window before they put the thing up for public consumption. People who don't preview their pages like this piss me off.



All in all, Frames are turning out to be as annoying and stupid as autoplaying midis/wavs, Huge graphic files, and WebTV.

Well, to be honest.. frames are the work of the devil. The devil also goes by the name of Bill Gates. We all know he's behind it but just can't summon the courage to go against him and his multi-billion temple of Win95 *CRAP* and so forth. He invented frames so people would go to a frames site, get all flustered and lost and buy a book about frames that.. you guessed it.. Microsnot.. er Microsoft published.

Well that's what I have to say about frames.

Being 100% against frames is ignorant.
Borderless frames are ok, and can aid in navigation and do interesting and innovative things. (ie Floating frame technique) The USE of frames today in general are horrible. I've seen people who will have 10 different frames windows. FRAMES for the SAKE OF FRAMES is stupid. But used properly they are great. Check out http://www.methodfive.com
Great design BTW. I could show you a number of sites that use frames and you guys/gals wouldn't even notice.

Frames are yet another ploy by the hardware industry to sell big monitors. My 14 inch monitor is more than adequate for most puropses. If I hit a frame site I can just forget about getting any usable content from it.

(5/'97) I first considered frames as means to
move the links off the page...to make them...
well, "more accessible". Then I got stuck in some weirdo page I was stupid enough to link to before really checking it out....I have yet to find all the stuff he claims is there...the upshot is I made a link called (get this) "My links Page" Whoa!! Who'd a thought, huh ?
